Ahmad Yari arrives in Kano for Yari Sport Initiative

Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari arrived in Kano for Yari Sport Initiative, continuing his involvement as Patron during the initiative's launch activities and horse-racing programme.

The Kano engagement followed a visit by members of the YSI team to his Abuja office on 6 September, when their discussion covered the forthcoming launch and the horse-racing competition scheduled for 26 and 27 September.

From preparations in Abuja to Kano

The earlier office meeting brought the YSI team together with Ahmad to discuss the upcoming activities. His arrival in Kano connected those preparations with an engagement in the city hosting the competition.

The occasion centred on Yari Sport Initiative and Ahmad's role as Patron. It formed part of the initiative's early programme, in which horse racing and football have been identified as event priorities.

The sporting purpose

YSI aims to bring young people together through sport, discover talented athletes and connect them with coaches and training. Ahmad has also described the ambition to build sports centres where athletes can train properly.

These aims provide the wider setting for the Kano engagement. The initiative combines organised events with an interest in participation and the development of young talent.

Patronage and the initiative's team

Ahmad serves as YSI Patron, while Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari serves as Grand Patron. Members of the initiative's team had met Ahmad ahead of the launch to discuss its immediate programme.

YSI remains a distinct sports initiative. Ahmad's patronage sits alongside his separate responsibilities in community support and public organisation, with each activity retaining its own purpose.
