Yari Messengers holds a strategic women's engagement

Yari Messengers held a strategic women's engagement focused on strengthening women's participation, grassroots mobilisation, unity and collective action in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of 2027.

The gathering provided a setting for dialogue and closer coordination among women involved in the movement's grassroots activities. Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari serves as National Convener of Yari Messengers.

Women's participation at the grassroots

Women's involvement was the central subject of the engagement. The discussion brought participation together with the organisational work of mobilisation: how women can take part, coordinate their activities and contribute to collective action within their communities.

The gathering formed part of Yari Messengers' support for the Renewed Hope Agenda. It placed women within the movement's grassroots work and provided an opportunity to discuss shared priorities through direct dialogue.

Unity and coordination

Unity was considered alongside closer coordination. Both were relevant to the engagement's focus on collective action and on the work of mobilising women at community level.

The emphasis on dialogue gave participants a setting in which participation and organisation could be discussed together. The engagement sought renewed commitment to the movement's grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 political season.

Within the wider movement

Yari Messengers coordinates activities across the Northern states. Its National Executive has met Ahmad at his Abuja office to discuss stronger organisational structures, deeper grassroots engagement and the coordination of work across the region.

The women's engagement belongs within that wider organisational effort while retaining its specific focus on women's participation. The two engagements address connected questions at different levels: the movement's overall structures, and the involvement and coordination of women within communities.

The National Convener's responsibilities

As National Convener, Ahmad's role is connected to the leadership and organisation of Yari Messengers. It is distinct from his sports patronage and from the charitable work of Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari Foundation.

The women's engagement was a Yari Messengers activity. Its purpose was political participation, dialogue and grassroots coordination, with women taking a central place in the movement's preparations and collective work.
