Hon. Ahmad Yari Congratulates Dad, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, on His 58th Birthday

Hon. Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari has congratulated his father, Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto, on his 58th birthday, celebrated on Monday, 28 September 2026. In a heartfelt tribute, Ahmad gave thanks to Almighty Allah for his father's life, prayed for his continued good health and wisdom, and saluted the Senator for the journey of service he has travelled and the legacy he continues to build.

Ahmad and his team specially congratulate Senator Yari on this milestone, joining family, friends, colleagues, constituents and well-wishers across Nigeria in celebrating a statesman, a leader and, above all, a devoted father.

Prayers for a father

At the heart of Ahmad's message is prayer. He asked Almighty Allah to grant his father long life in sound health, to fill the new year with peace, wisdom and fulfilment, and to continue to guide his steps in the responsibilities he carries for Zamfara and for Nigeria.

"Today I give thanks to Almighty Allah for the gift of my father," Ahmad said. "I pray that Allah continues to protect him, strengthen him and grant him many more years of good health, happiness and service to our people. Happy birthday, Dad."

For Ahmad, a birthday is first an occasion for gratitude: gratitude for the years that have passed, for the lessons they have brought and for the blessings the family has shared along the way.

Saluting a journey of service

Senator Yari's journey in public life is one of steady and distinguished service. He represented his constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011 before being elected Governor of Zamfara State, a role he held for two terms from 2011 to 2019. Between 2015 and 2019 he chaired the Nigeria Governors' Forum, bringing the states together at a critical time for the federation.

Since 2023 he has represented Zamfara West in the Senate, where he chairs the Senate Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation. He has also served as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, leading consultations with traditional institutions, religious leaders and stakeholders across the country.

Ahmad saluted his father for how far he has come: from Talata Mafara to the highest levels of national leadership, without losing the humility and closeness to people that have defined his public life. "You have shown us that leadership is service," Ahmad said. "Everything you have achieved, you have achieved by putting people first."

A legacy that speaks for itself

The Senator's legacy is visible across Zamfara. As Governor, his administration invested in roads connecting communities and markets, in schools and girls' education, in health facilities and in water and rural services. As a Senator, his work continues through scholarship support for students, agricultural input support for farmers, flood recovery for affected families in Gummi and outreach to communities across Zamfara West.

That legacy is also honoured beyond Zamfara. In December 2025, Senator Yari and his wife received the traditional titles of Obaloyin and Yeye Obaloyin of Yorubaland in Oyo, a recognition of the bridges he has built across Nigeria's regions and cultures. He also holds the traditional title of Marafan Sokoto.

Ahmad paid tribute to that legacy and to the example it sets for the next generation. "You are building something that will outlive all of us," he said. "Your legacy is in the lives you have touched, the opportunities you have created and the unity you have always stood for."

The father who guides and protects

Beyond the titles and offices, Ahmad's tribute is a son's thanks to a father who has always protected and guided his family. He spoke of a man who is present, who listens, who corrects with patience and who encourages with generosity.

"You have always been our shield and our guide," Ahmad said. "Whatever you carry for the nation, you have never stopped carrying us too. You taught us faith, discipline, respect for people and the courage to serve. Every step I take in public life, I take with the lessons you have given me."

Ahmad credits his father with shaping his own commitment to young people and to community service. His work with the City Boy Movement, the Yari Messengers, the Yari Sport Initiative, where Senator Yari serves as Grand Patron, and the Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari Foundation all reflect values first learned at home.

Faith, family and community

Those who know the Senator well speak of a man whose life is anchored in faith. His devotion to Almighty Allah, his regard for elders and traditional institutions, and his care for the vulnerable have shaped the way he leads and the way he raises his family.

Ahmad recalled that his father has always taught his children to remember where they come from. Talata Mafara, Zamfara and the people who have stood with the family over the years remain at the centre of the Senator's thinking. "You taught us that every position is a trust," Ahmad said. "You taught us that the people come first, that our faith must guide our conduct, and that we must never forget home."

That grounding is reflected in the Senator's enduring relationships across Nigeria: with traditional rulers and religious leaders, with colleagues across party and regional lines, and with ordinary citizens who continue to find his door open.

A proud moment, shared

The birthday comes at a moment of particular pride for father and son. Only days earlier, Senator Yari publicly applauded Ahmad and the young people of Zamfara for the massive youth turnout in Gusau in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing young Nigerians as the next generation of leaders, innovators and nation-builders.

Ahmad returned that encouragement on his father's birthday. "You told the world you are proud of me," he said. "Today I want the world to know how proud I am of you, and how grateful I am to be your son."

Warm wishes from Ahmad Yari and his team

Hon. Ahmad Yari and his team at the Office of Ahmad Yari specially congratulate Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar on his 58th birthday. The team joins Ahmad in praying for the Senator's good health, long life and continued success, and in thanking him for the support and guidance he has given to the young people and communities the office serves.

The team also extends warm wishes to the Senator's family, his colleagues in the National Assembly, the people of Zamfara West and everyone celebrating with him today.

Many happy returns

As Senator Yari begins a new year, Ahmad's prayer is simple: that Almighty Allah grants his father peace, sound health and wisdom for the responsibilities ahead, and many more years in service to his family, his people and Nigeria.

Happy 58th birthday, Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto. Happy birthday, Dad.
