Senator Abdulaziz Yari Applauds Ahmad Yari After a Day in Gusau and Kano
Senator Abdulaziz Yari commends Ahmad Yari and the young people of Zamfara for the massive turnout in Gusau and celebrates a day that continued with the Yari Sport Initiative launch in Kano.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari has applauded his son, Hon. Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari, after a Saturday that took Ahmad from a massive youth rally in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, to the launch of the Yari Sport Initiative in Kano. The Senator's message, shared on Monday, 28 September 2026, celebrates the young people who came out in their thousands and the son who stood with them.
The Senator's message
In his words:
It’s encouraging to see our youths step forward with such energy, courage and a strong sense of purpose.
The massive turnout in Gusau was a remarkable demonstration of youth participation and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Indeed, I am proud of Ahmad Yari and every young person who came out. The strength and valour of our young people give us confidence in the future. They are the next generation of leaders, innovators and nation-builders who will take Nigeria forward.
#RenewedHope
The message is short, but it says a great deal. It recognises a turnout, honours the young people behind it and expresses a father's pride in a son who has made youth participation a central part of his public life.
Gusau: a statement of support
The day began in Gusau on Saturday, 26 September 2026. Zamfara youths organised the rally in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope agenda, and the response was massive. Young people came from across the state to take part, filling the state capital with energy and purpose.
Ahmad attended as an Executive Board Member of the Governing Council of the City Boy Movement, the youth movement to which he was appointed in August 2026. In the days before the rally, he had called on the people of Zamfara to come out in unity and participation. Saturday's turnout was the answer to that call, and it is the turnout Senator Yari described as a remarkable demonstration of youth participation.
For Zamfara, the rally was also a statement about the place of young people in the state's political life. Youth participation is not a slogan in Zamfara West. It is a practical reality, visible whenever young people organise, mobilise and speak for the future they want.
Kano: the Yari Sport Initiative begins
From Gusau, Ahmad travelled the same day to Kano, where the Yari Sport Initiative was launched. As Patron of the initiative, with Senator Yari serving as Grand Patron, Ahmad joined the launch activities and the horse-racing programme scheduled for 26 and 27 September.
The Yari Sport Initiative exists to bring young people together through sport, to discover talented athletes and to connect them with coaches, training and opportunity. Horse racing and football have been identified as early priorities, and Ahmad has spoken about the ambition to build sports centres where young athletes can train properly.
Moving from a political rally in one state to a sports launch in another on the same day says something about the range of Ahmad's commitments. Both engagements were about young people: in Gusau, their voice in public life; in Kano, their talent and their future in sport.
A father, a senator, an encourager
Senator Yari's message carries the authority of long public service. He served in the House of Representatives, governed Zamfara State for two terms, chaired the Nigeria Governors' Forum and now represents Zamfara West in the Senate. He knows what it takes to mobilise people and what a turnout of this scale represents.
He also writes as a father. His pride in Ahmad is stated plainly, and it sits alongside his pride in every young person who came out. That balance reflects a conviction the Senator has expressed many times: that the strength of Nigeria's future rests with its young people.
The next generation of leaders
The message ends with a vision. Nigeria's young people, the Senator says, are the next generation of leaders, innovators and nation-builders who will take the country forward. That vision runs through Ahmad's work, from the City Boy Movement and the Yari Messengers to the Yari Sport Initiative and the community programmes of the Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari Foundation.
For the young people of Gusau and Kano, the Senator's words are recognition. For Ahmad, they are encouragement to keep going. Watch the video to follow Ahmad's day from Gusau to Kano and to hear the message of pride from Senator Yari.
